Part 1: Beginner to Intermediate $255
Part 2: Advanced $255

Digital Engineering using Minecraft

Redstone is Minecraft’s equivalent of electricity. The Minecraft Redstone course starts by teaching how to use this energy to create the different logic gates. Your child will then learn how these logic gates can be combined to create different circuits and complex electronic items such as calculators, elevators and more. They’ll use all the skills they learn to design and build an amazing adventure course full of challenges, surprises and puzzles that players must navigate through!

Virtual course format

Our courses are divided into two parts, each of which can be taken as a standalone one-week course.

Tech requirements

Chromebooks and iPads are not supported

Internet speed requirements

  • 5Mbps download speed and 3Mbps upload speed (per user)
  • If using FunTech Virtual Machine at least 6Mbps download speed and 6Mbps upload speed; lower speeds will work, but the quality of the remote computer experience will deteriorate (per user)

IMPORTANT – FREE TECHNICAL SUPPORT

Course software must be installed before the start of the camp. Instructions on how to do this will be in your FunTech Parent Portal and includes free technical support.

If the software is not installed prior to the start of the camp, then your child will miss some of the course and their may be an additional charge to catch up on missed content.

About this camp

At our Minecraft Engineering day camp, your child will be taken on a journey through the fundamentals of electronics. We’ll start with the simple concept of binary, where any two states (like up and down, or on and off) can be represented by a 0 or 1.

During the Minecraft Redstone course, your child will learn how to use truth tables. These are mathematical table used for logic, helping them learn about the different logic gates and their possible outputs. Once these gates have been mastered, they’ll learn how to combine logic gates to create real-world applications, giving them a deeper understanding of how everything reduces back down to Binary.

As this electronics summer camp progresses the circuits will become more complex. Toward the end of the course your child’s imagination will go into overdrive as they fully comprehend the limitless possibilities of being an electronic inventor. These skills will be used to design and implement an adventure course that family and friends must navigate through – come early as these are often quite challenging!

Minecraft Engineering (with Redstone) allows the freedom to build and experiment with electronic circuits that in the real world would be a health and safety challenge!
